The Silent Patient

Alicia Berenson murdered her husband. They were married for seven years. She was a painter by profession and husband, Gabriel Berenson, was a photographer. He had a very elegant personality. He used to shoot half-naked women. Alicia’s paintings were not much famous rather there was notoriety. The day he was murders was the hottest day of the year. He woke up early than usual and went for chore. He came back at 11 p.m at his house. Meanwhile Alicia was doing her work usually.

After sometime their neighbour Barbie heard gunshots and called police. Police reached at Berenson’s house under three minutes. They entered Berenson’s house it was dark without any light. Light switches were not working. Everything was looking very dull and dark. They entered in living room and saw Gabriel tied up with the chair and was dead. Alicia was standing in front of the fireplace. Everything looked charred. Blood was everywhere like rivulets. A cop saw Alicia’s wrists were bleeding. They grabbed her and took to the hospital.

Later on we came to know that she was accused of her husband’s death. She remained silent all the time. She didn’t deny or confess anything which makes her more suspicious. People were oblivious about what actually happened or why it happened. There were many rumors but Alicia was still silent. When she was on the house arrest, she didn’t sleep or ate anything. Her nurse told the cops that she is not fine she only paints and says nothing. I thought she was in trauma but as the time passed she didn’t speak a single word depicts that she was not mentally stable.People started talking about her that she is mad, cold-hearted bitch who killed her husband.

I wanted to introduce myself in the start but I didn’t consider it appropriate because this wasn’t my story. I am Theo Faber. I am psychotherapist by profession. I had a great interest in knowing what happened actually. During the house arrest Alicia made a painting which was more a self portrait. She wrote only a single Greek word at the end which was “Alcestis”. It represents a sad love story in which the man was willing to sacrifice for the love of his life and the women also wanted to save her love of life. While staring at the painting in the exhibition I heard people calling Alicia as a monster, demon, a women who killed her husband in cold blood. People hated her.

The court of justice referred her to psychiatric unit because Proff. Domeds declared her as mentally sick patient who needed therapy. I wanted to treat her. I empathizes her. I left my job at Broadmoor and went to Groove in first place as i heard there was an opportunity. I became psychotherapist because of my own childhood. My father had anger issues. He didn’t know ow to channelize his anger and rage. He used to beat me with his belt. I wanted to get rid of this life. I wanted to run. So, when I turned 18 , i got admission in the university far away from my home. I left my house but i was unable to get rid of my father.

He was everywhere in my mind. I can hear his voices in my head. I took paracetamols to end my life, I waited for death but it never came. I was in the misery of eternity just then i decided to live and be a better man. In my adolescence,I decided my vocation as a psychotherapist. I used to visit a psychotherapist and it helped me a lot. I wanted to help and treat Alicia that’s why i decided to move to Grove. When I came to Grove I first met Yuri, he was the nurse he welcomed me. After that I met Staphine Clark manager of the Grove.

I first entered in the community meeting. I saw some familiar faces but there were many patients. I met Proff Domeds he introduced me with the community members. I looked at the patients to find Alicia. I looked two times around the room and I was unable to find her just then I saw her. She looked murky but I decided to treat her.
